Bates was a teacher, coach and administrator for 39 years in Pennsylvania, Iowa and Nebraska. He's excited about helping the Hall of Fame reach its goal of establishing a permanent home for the Hall in the Nebraska School Activities Association's office building in Lincoln. "One of the biggest values I see to any hall of fame ... is inspiring kids for the future," Bates said. "They look at things. They see the pictures. They read the inscriptions and hopefully will hear and see it all when we get the thing up and running. Maybe they'll set a goal for who they want to be. There's not enough role models and heroes in our society for them to look up to." |
