Lloyd Hahn, Falls City (1920) Laid the foundation for what would be a world-class running career by starring in high school in the 100, 220 and quartermile, winning gold medals and setting state records along the way. The speed he showed as a youngster served him well as he became a premier middle distance runner, highlighted by participation in the 1924 and 1928 Olympic Games, finishing sixth in the 1924 1500 meters and fifth in 800 meters. Held world records at 800 meters, 880 yards, 1,000 yards, 1,000 meters, 1,500 meters, three-fourths mile and indoor mile during his career running for the Boston Athletic Association. |
