Ruby Miller, Elm Creek A 1927 graduate. Girls basketball was allowed in high school for a period in high school year ago, being banned in the 1930's before resuming in 1976. Ruby Miller was a pioneer in the sport, with a scoring ability that resulted in some amazing feats. She scored 80 points against Miller, 70 against Riverdale. Her senior season scoring average was 38.6 points a game. She made 22 of her team's 25 points in one of the few close games her team had. Her performance drew national attention and the Elm Creek team was invited to a national tournament in Wichita. |
