Howard Debus, Lincoln High

Class of 1940--Perhaps storied Lincoln High's greatest all-around athlete. He won gold medals in the 1940 state track meet in the vault, discus, shotput and javelin, the vault and discus at state record paces. He was a star halfback on Lincoln High teams that went 7-0-1, 10-0 and 7-1 and was a two-time all-stater. At the University of Nebraska, his athletic career continued. In the NCAA national meet track and field championships in 1943. he scored 19 points for the Huskers.
