Cletus Fischer

Athlete/Coach. St. Edward Class of 1943.   All-state football player at St. Edward in six-man in 1942, a Nebraska Cornhusker in the 1940's and a New York Giant in 1949.

He was a highly successful coach in Nebraska and in Texas. Fischer's top teams were at Columbus St. Bonaventure and Omaha South, the latter sharing the state title with Creighton Prep in 1958.

Cletus had a 26-year coaching career on Nebraska's staff, building the offensive line for the 1970-71 national championship teams.
